Meet the Author Conversations on Faith: Cedric Brown

The Affirming Faith Forum, LGBT Center Library, and Out! Raleigh Clergy are thrilled to host an evening with Cedric Brown, a community investor and artist currently living in Oakland, CA.

Our latest "Conversations on Faith" event will feature a discussion of "Tar Heel Born: A Native Son Speaks on Race, Religion, and Reconciliation," Cedric's collection of seven narrative poems.

Cedric Brown is a fifth-generation North Carolinian, born and raised in Winston-Salem and proud graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. For the past 20 years, his visual, performance, and written work have been featured in numerous publications and San Francisco Bay Area venues. Cedric is also the author of the novella "Eyes of Water and Stone: From Havana with Love." Its companion stage play, "Cuban Hustle," appears in the anthology "Blacktino Queer Performance," released in 2016 by Duke University Press. Cedric is also an accomplished professional in philanthropy, currently leading community engagement and philanthropic initiatives at the Kapor Center for Social Impact in Oakland, CA. He has won multiple leadership awards, most recently including the 2016 Trailblazer Award from the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club. Cedric lives in Oakland with his partner and maintains strong roots in the Tar Heel State.

This event is free and open to the public.
