Planning for Return to In-Person Gatherings

Greetings and blessings to each of you.

During the coronavirus pandemic, we have embraced virtual ways of gathering to best care for the health of each of us. The virtual experience has enlarged our outreach and enabled us to connect with even more people. We are committed to continuing to grow our virtual ministry and connections as we move forward.

We also know that many are eager to know when we will be able to hold in-person gatherings in your area.

We developed a Coronavirus Taskforce in March that has been guiding our actions and decisions along the way.

Last week this team submitted a recommendation to the Board of Directors for a phased return to in person gatherings. This proposal will be discussed at the next Board meeting, on June 30th, 2020.

While many states including North Carolina are seeing an increase in coronavirus cases, the phased approach is one that the Taskforce believes will give us the best chance of returning sensibly and keeping everyone’s health and well being at the core of our decision making process.

If approved, the proposal would introduce an in-person worship on Sunday in addition to our virtual experience. The in person gathering would be limited to 30 minutes and would follow the latest guidelines including physical distancing, face coverings, and hand sanitizer stations.

This proposal would also offer a return to in person, small group gatherings at the church facility.

Thorough cleaning and sanitizing procedures have already been implemented for the facility.

The proposal would enable us to hold the first in-person gatherings on Sunday, July 12th. The taskforce will be monitoring the numbers and local, state, and federal guidelines and some adjustments may be made as we move forward to best care for everyone.

I will be hosting two discussion times next week so that we can answer any questions you may have.

You can join me Monday evening at 6:30 or Thursday at Noon via Zoom or Call In. The links and numbers to each of these will be posted with this message and on our website.
