Living the Questions: The Myth of Redemptive Violence
The most potent religion in Western culture is not Christianity, but in a misplaced belief in the redemptive power of violence.
Although Jesus inaugurated a new order based on partnership, equality, compassion, and non-violence, his example and teachings have been eclipsed by an emphasis on human unworthiness that demands and defends the need for Jesus’ violent suffering and death. Persecuting people in the name of God becomes the battle cry.
We will examine this current on Tuesday, September 29th, beginning at 6:30 during Tuesday Night Bible Study. Even if you have not attended any of our sessions before, we have materials for you so you can join into the discussion quickly and easily. All are invited.
