Faith In Action - A HUGE Success!
Words simply cannot express how proud and thankful I am to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules and braved the chilly weather to do something for someone else. On Sunday morning, (October 30th), over 90 people attended worship outside in the cold Fall air. Those gathered included members and friends of St. John's, as well as those living in and around Moore Square. For just a few hours, it didn't matter who you were or whethere or not you had a place to come home. Everyone gathered for the same reason - to praise God.
After service, the congregation split up into to small teams to perform a variety of service projects. They included health screenings, Adopt-A-Highway, lunchoxes of love, snack bags and preparation of hygiene kits. At least 200 people were fed and provided with snacks and health screenings. 2 miles of highway in Garner is a little cleaner and others now have hygiene items to help them prepare for a job interview or to just feel a little better about themselves.
In additon, a few people were provided with coats to help fight the cold weather. if you are interested in donating a new or gently used coat, please drop it by the church office during normal operating hours or on Sunday morning.
Combined, 60+ volunteers participated in Faith in Action, totally well over 120 hours of time. A lot of lives were changed today, and it's all because of your generosity.
