Chord of Many Strands
First-Ever Concerts with The Durham Chorale Set for June 2010
The Triangle Gay Men's Chorus joins forces with The Durham Chorale to present "Chord of Many Strands." The concert will serve as our 2009-2010 season finale. Performances are scheduled for 3 pm, Sunday June 13 at First Presbyterian Church, 305 East Main Street in Durham, and for 8 pm, Saturday, June 19 in Fellowship Hall, 3313 Wade Avenue in Raleigh.
Each chorus will present individual selections, and then combine to present the featured work,"Song of Wisdom," composed by North Carolina native Joseph M. Martin.
"Song of Wisdom" is an uplifting choral and instrumental experience based on the popular children's book Old Turtle. Douglas Wood's classic story is a powerful acknowledgement of God's supreme love for the Earth and its inhabitants. Joseph Martin transforms the many characters and moods of the book into a musical fantasy that employs abundant text painting and musical imagery.
TGMC Artistic Director and Conductor John-Philip Mullinax will lead the choruses in the performances of the work, and Durham Chorale Conductor Melody Zentner will serve as Narrator.
Tickets will be $12.00 in advance at tgmchorus.org, and will be available for $15.00 at the door.
