Day 26 – Celebrate God’s Blessings (September 2nd)
Faith in Action Daily Devotions – Week 4 (Theme: Party)
Day 26 – Celebrate God’s Blessings (September 2nd)
Scripture: Luke 6:20-23
Reflection:
- God’s values often are not the world’s values. As you work with people in need, what do these verses say about how God values those who are poor, hungry and needy?
- Jesus was speaking in these verses not only about physical poverty and hunger, but also about spiritual poverty and hunger. In Matthew 5:3, for example, we see the “poor in spirit” are those who live in contrast to people who are spiritually proud and self-sufficient. To be “blessed” is to experience the ultimate well-being and spiritual joy of those who share in the salvation of the realm of God. What can we learn about the blessedness from those who are materially poor but spiritually rich?
